News photographer/videographer Dan Chung‘s 4-minute time-lapse video of last week’s National Day parade in Beijing, marking the 60th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China, attracted widespread attention in its posting on The Guardian.
Chung created this 3-minute video of a night on Beijing’s Nan Luogu Xiang street, using the just-out, $1700, Canon EOS 7D digital SLR camera. More details about shooting both the parade time-lapse video and the bohemian street video are on Chung’s site, DSLR News Shooter.
Chung’s time-lapse parade segment is remarkable because it’s optimized for the online version of a print publication, and approaches moving images with different tools and from a different perspective than a broadcast organization.
